Most companies have a clear mission and a clear but separate culture. It’s not often that the two are fully integrated. At Particle, something special has happened: our mission and our culture are in fact very much tied together. Why? How? Because what we’re building is really personal.

It comes up a lot when we’re interviewing for new team members—nearly everyone has a personal tale of disbelief and frustration with the misalignment, siloing of information, lack of portability, and lack of choice that stems from the very core of our very problematic healthcare system.
Ultimately, we draw our power from a collective mission to empower the patient. Every feature, project and question can be simply qualified as: does this empower patients?
In that spirit, several mantras have bubbled up organically at Particle:
While these may not be traditional corporate values, they’re the values that guide our decisions as a working organism. Making hires, prioritizing product features, developing a GTM strategy all tie back to this small, mighty list.
With our new VP of People, we’re starting to implement culture in an even more organized way. Things like philanthropy, vacation culture, special interest groups and big team events are all finding a place in our day-to-day at Particle.
Healthcare is not a sprint. If you try, you’ll churn, burn and eventually lag behind the pack. It has to be a fun, exciting, evolving lifestyle with new surprises around every turn. I’m ecstatic that the pandemic has begun its downward spiral and we can begin to start thinking about a team that is able to work, celebrate and spend time together once again.
Particle is growing quickly, and we have a ton of opportunities. If you think you’ve got what it takes to help innovative health tech companies build new solutions outside of the traditional healthcare system, then get in touch. Tell us your story. You’ll be in great company.
