Particle Health is pleased to inform customers that the Carequality Dispute has been fully resolved and we are confident there will be no further disruptions to service.
November 18, 2024 – Today Particle Health is pleased to inform customers that the Carequality Dispute has been fully resolved and we are confident there will be no further disruptions to service. Furthermore, Particle continues to succeed in its mission, growing in both the number of customers it serves as well as continuing to support more and more patients in their healthcare journeys
Per the terms of the Carequality Resolution, Particle has complied with its obligations issued by the dispute panel. Particle is grateful for the cooperation of many customers who participated in an auditing process, including documentation of use cases and confirmation of compliance to bi-directional policies. With all allegations in the Carequality dispute disproven, Particle Health is focused on the future, and is steadfastly committed to its mission of unlocking the power of medical records that focuses health back on the patient.
As for Epic, the Carequality Resolution findings stated that Epic failed to provide objective criteria on how they determine whether a Directory entry is performing treatment. As a result, Epic was mandated to update their Phonebook Policy. While Particle believes the Phonebook still lacks clear objective criteria, we are encouraged by the fact that the resolution requires Epic to transparently process any new directory entries within 2 weeks using consistent guidelines across all Directory entries. Anyone under the Carequality Connected Agreement can request a copy of Epic’s Policy to ensure they apply rules consistently.
“We see this resolution as a vindication," said Jason Prestinario, CEO Particle Health. “Carequality invalidated Epic’s original dispute premise and Epic has agreed to implement more transparency and open communication. These requirements for Epic, along with network-strengthening measures put in place by Carequality, will benefit participants and drive positive innovation for interoperability and patient care.
We appreciate the support of our customers and investors as we all work towards more streamlined exchange of health data. Particle is in this for the long haul: last month saw the largest volume of patients queried in the history of the business, and we expect to continue innovating for years to come."
